One of the most effective things we can do to assure than Blacksburg continues and accelerates along a “green” (sustainable) path is to elect the best Town-Council representatives and Montgomery County and Commonwealth officials who make choices for the long-term future of our area. For that reason, we urge you to PLEASE BECOME WELL INFORMED ON THE ISSUES and PLEASE LEARN OF THE VALUES AND VIEWS OF EACH CANDIDATE FOR WHOM YOU VOTE.

Thursday, 23 October, 7:00 PM – Candidates for Montgomery County Board of Supervisors & School Board
Thursday, 24 October, (Time TBA) – Candidates for Virginia Governor (Each has agreed to debate at VT)

DATE FOR THE GENERAL & SPECIAL ELECTION – Tuesday, 05 November 2013
IDENTIFICATION WILL BE REQUIRED WHEN YOU VOTE ON 05 NOVEMBER – Acceptable forms of identification are: your Voter Registration card, your Social Security card, a valid Virginia Drivers License, a Government I.D. card, an Employer’s Photo I.D. card, etc. If you have questions about whether you have an appropriate (valid) identification card, please call the Montgomery County Voter Registration Office at 540-382-5741.
WHERE TO VOTE ON 05 NOVEMBER – You will find the location where you vote on the “Voter Location” line of your Voter Registration Card.
LAST DAY TO REGISTER TO VOTE – Tuesday, 15 October 2013
WHERE & WHEN TO REGISTER TO VOTE OR APPLY TO RECEIVE AN ABSENTEE BALLOT – Montgomery County Government Center, 755 Roanoke Street, Christiansburg, VA. Office Hours – Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM.
ABSENTEE VOTING IN PERSON – If you will NOT be in our area to vote in person on 05 November, but you WILL be in our area on 26 October and/or 02 November, and you wish to vote in person at the Montgomery County Government Center, you may do so by going there from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM on those two Days.
ABSENTEE VOTING BY MAIL – If you will NOT be in our area to vote in person on 05 November, and you cannot vote in person by going to the Montgomery County Government Center on 26 October or 02 November (as described above), you may apply for an absentee ballot by going to the Montgomery County Government Center Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM. The last day qualified (registered) voters may apply for an absentee ballot for voting by mail is Tuesday, 29 October 2013.
PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES – All requests for reasonable accommodations due to a disability should be made to the Registrar (540-382-5741) with at least a 48 hour notice.
