You may already know that, for over a year now, Sustainable Blacksburg has been collecting used household batteries from six Downtown Blacksburg merchants and correctly sorting and packaging them so that they can be sent to the Montgomery Regional Solid Waste Authority (MRSWA).
From what we have learned last year, and with the help of our local YMCA, we now are experimenting with an altered management plan for 2014. We will later provide you with more information.

WHAT – HELP SB AND THE YMCA PREPARE HOUSEHOLD BATTERIES FOR ENVIRONMENTALLY SAFE RECYCLING
WHEN – From 10:00 am to 12:00 noon this Saturday, 03 May
WHERE – The Y Center (YMCA building), 1000 North Main Street, Blacksburg. (Meet outside or just inside the offices door depending upon the weather – see photo below).
WHY – Learn about the many different chemical types of household batteries, and how they need to be prepared for transport to the MRSWA, and then on to a safe site for environmentally safe recycling.
